This is the Kiosk on my street where we always buy water. |
This is the KG area at the school. The little pods are classrooms. |
This is me with the view from Paul's Balcony behind me. Hi! |
This is a sign from inside City Stars, the largest mall in the Arab Nations. Note the little dude on a prayer mat. |

OK, so what are your addresses in case I need to send you a care package? What is the money like? I want some coin! I'll send money so you can send money.
I'm glad to see that you are surviving and it even sounds like you're enjoying yourselves!
Keep the pix coming, they are very interesting.
Love, Dad
Yeah, we're actually trying to find out our shipping addresses. There's nothing posted on the buildings and places like our school have addresses like 'km 30, Ismalia Road' which is a bit ambiguous. However, I was told that we do indeed have addresses, and we should find them out in the next couple of days. Getting concrete information here takes determination and multiple attempts on multiple fronts.
When it comes to money, paper is the main means of exchange. There's even a note for half and a quarter pound. The only places coins are used are western establishments and everywhere else people round to the nearest half pound. I do have some coins set aside for you though. Other than that everything is cheap by American standards. 2-2.5 pounds for a liter and a half of water, 3 pounds for a cab to Katie's, ~15 pounds for a decent meal. For a rough $ equivalent just divide the pounds amount by 5.
More pictures to come...
Congrats on your trip, and it's great being able to keep up with you on your blog.
Love, Clinton, Susie, Clinton Jr. and Joseph
this looks pimp!
Where did the photos of Katie's apartment inside go?
What do you think of the food? Have you eaten anything interesting yet?
Your blog is so fun!
love, mom and dad
